Larry Bruce Batchelor

Larry Bruce Batchelor, 81, passed away Wednesday morning February 26, 2025 surrounded by family and friends. He was born and raised in Mobile, AL where he attended Semmes High School.  He had a successful 36 year long career starting Batchelor’s Heating & Air in 1967, which became Batchelor’s Mechanical Contractors in 1980. In 2003, Larry and his wife Pam made the move to Destin, FL where he started Larry Batchelor Mechanical, LLC and worked until recently. 

His love of serving his community was evident. He served on the board of Associated Builders and Contractors, YMCA, Sunrise Rotary, Drug Education Council among others. He was named Mobilian of the Year in 2000. Larry was an involved member of Christ United Church in Mobile, and then of Good News Church in Santa Rosa Beach, FL.  He was a founding member of the Christ Wesleyan Church in Daphne, AL. When he wasn’t working, Larry enjoyed hunting at Oakchia and fishing at Fowl River.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Mae Batchelor, and his grandson Brian Mills. Larry is survived by his wife of 44 years Pam, daughter Michelle Mills (Allen), son Sean Batchelor, daughter Lauren Martin (Sonny), and son Nelson Batchelor; grandchildren, Christopher Meitzler, Brandon Meitzler, Daniel Mills, Ian Mills, Hamilton Martin, and Camille Martin, Bennett Batchelor and Bayleigh Batchelor; 3 great- grandchildren. Larry is also survived by his brother Terry Batchelor (Gwen).

A memorial service will be held at Christ United Church on Thursday, March 6 at 11:00am. Visitation immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations to Christ United Church, Good News Church, Christ Wesleyan Church or any of your favorite charitable causes encouraged.
