Kennith Edwin King

Kennith Edwin King, age 79, passed away on May 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 22, 1946, in Crestview, Florida, Kennith lived a life rich in purpose, hard work and adventure!

With a love of the outdoors, Kennith found his greatest joy in nature; hunting deer and turkey, casting a line while riding the Choctawhatchee River and farming and preserving his bounty. His passion for the woods was a way of life and tradition, a connection to the land and camaraderie with his lifelong friends and wife that shared his passions. Kennith could call a turkey, have a conversation with an owl and castrate a bull.

He was a great storyteller of the “old days” and of growing up in Escambia Farms.

In 1979, Kennith founded Wright Electrical Contractors, building it from the ground up into a respectable business that served the community for forty-five years. Many of these years he worked nights at Okaloosa Technical College teaching up-and-coming electricians. Throughout his career he mentored and trained many young men with his knowledge and loved teaching a skill that he strongly believed was a trade that would endure and create an honest living.

Kennith also served the community on the Okaloosa County Electrical Board.

Kennith married Cindy on December 16, 1983. They shared decades of love, laughter and partnership. Throughout their lives they had many adventures together and were rarely seen apart. Kennith and Cindy worked at Wright Electric together, raced stock cars, farmed long horn cattle, and made muscadine wine from their vineyard. Above all, Kennith was a devoted husband, a loyal friend, and a man that lived life on his own terms. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Kennith E. King is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy King; sister, Edith Davis (Jim); nephew, Jerry Perry (Mary); children, Trina McCullough, Tricia Lung, Tiffani Dawes, Kennith King, II, Sandie Taunton, and Heather Lollie; and oodles of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Kennith was preceded in death by his parents, Malachi and Golia King; siblings, Merle King, Vondel King, and Junior King; and son, David Taunton.

No formal services are planned. The family will celebrate Kennith’s life privately.
