Keith Edward Rodkey, age 81, passed away, peacefully in his sleep, on Thursday, June 25, 2020, at his home in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Keith was born on February 25, 1939 in Marion, Indiana, to the lucky parents of Glen and Lorine Rodkey. Keith enjoyed fishing, camping, NASCAR, music, target shooting and sports.
Keith served in the USAF from 1958 and retired in 1981, after serving for 22 years, 6 months and 27 days. His primary specialty was in 33rd MMS Munitions System Superintendent for 10 years and Recreation Services Supervisor 12 years. He earned many awards including, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, NCO Academy Graduate Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon W/4 Dev, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross W/Dev and Air Force Good Conduct Medal W/5 Dev. Keith was trained and received valuable education from TAC NCO Leadership School December 1965, MGT for Air Force Supervisors February 1975, OJT Trainer/Supervisor Orientation Crse, June 1976, Senior NCO Academy August 1978. Keith also graduated Saint Leo University in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He was also was known for working at Mainsail Condominiums as Chief of Security from 1982-2002 and the Mainsail front entrance Welcome Center named after both him and his son, Michael, who together worked a combined total of 55 years at Mainsail. His life and career led him to live many places including Marion, Indiana, Kokomo, Indiana, Lackland, Texas, Selfridge, Michigan, Pakistan, San Angelo, Texas, Tampa, Florida, Thailand, Alexandria, Louisiana, Suffolk, England, Korea and Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Keith is survived by his wife, Charlotte Ann Rodkey; daughter, Barbara Ann (Rodkey) O’Hara and her husband, Thomas Eric O’Hara; son, Michael Edward Rodkey and his wife, Lillian (Yanas) Rodkey; grandchildren, Thomas O’Hara, II, Stephen O’Hara, Kimberly (O’Hara) George and her husband, Chris George, Joshua Rodkey and Matthew Rodkey and his wife, Sarah Rodkey, Christopher Rodkey; great- grandchildren, Caleb O’Hara, Kylie O’Hara, Brooke O’Hara and Trinity O’Hara; siblings, Connie Kay Giddens and Daniel Walter Rodkey; and beloved pets, Joker and Penny. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Lorine Rodkey; grandparents, Walter and Blanche Malott and Daniel and Dora Gibbs; and siblings, Richard Rodkey and Sally Rutherford.
