Judith Elizabeth Russell

Judith Elizabeth Russell, age 86, passed away Tuesday July 1, 2025. She was born February 8, 1939, in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Edward George McNamara and Mary Elinor Doherty.  Judith spent thirty years working with special needs children for Okaloosa County School District. After retiring, she and her husband became park rangers for the Army Core of Engineers working at campgrounds throughout Florida, Alabama, and Georgia. While Judith enjoyed camping in her spare time, spending time with her family was loved most of all.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward G. and Mary D. McNamara; husband, Gerald “Jerry” Russell; two sons, Erich Vaughn and John Vaughn; one grandson, Erich Vaughn; and one brother, Dick McNamara.

Judith is survived by three sons, Douglas Vaughn (Sherry), Keith Vaughn (Lori), and Terry Vaughn; fourteen grandchildren, Christy Mooney (Calvin), Stephanie Hayslip (Jordan), Aaron Vaughn, Brent Rademaker (Stacy), Michael Vaughn (Lindsey Minter), Sarah Vaughn, Justin Vaughn, Christopher Vaughn, Alicia Vaughn, CJ Vaughn (Ashley), DJ Russell, Tyler Russell, Rachel Russell and Tiffany Vaughn; three siblings, John McNamara, Ted McNamara, and Maura Alves; special family friends, Kim Tyree, Troy Tyree, and Mardi Vaughn; along with numerous great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025, beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 State Highway 83, North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
