Juanita Adams Obituary

Juanita Suber Adams passed through the gates of Heaven November 15, 2021. She was born February 22, 1937, to Arie and Mona Galloway and was raised on a farm in the Hacoda, Alabama area. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. Juanita was a member of Darlington Community Church and truly enjoyed the fellowship with all the congregation. She loved flower gardening, sewing and painting. She was a very talented artist and was happiest with a paintbrush in her hand. Her family and friends are very grateful for the many paintings she has given them over the years; however, anything could be a canvas, from a wall to a cabinet, to a beautiful fence on White Street. She was an excellent seamstress and made most of her children’s clothes when they were growing up to include making her own patterns for the many designs her daughters could dream up, and also sewed lots of Barbie clothes. Juanita was good at any craft she set her mind to. She created doll furniture from aluminum cans and built a dollhouse to display them, which won the blue ribbon at the county fair. She possessed an amazing “green thumb” and was never far from her farming roots. She loved growing her flowers and would sit for hours admiring her handy work when they were in full bloom. Juanita will always be remembered as a strong, hardworking woman who cherished her family above all else. She always looked for the good in people and could find the positive in any situation. One of her favorite pieces of advice was “it doesn’t get easier as you get older”, so if there is anything you have been meaning to do, she would want you to just go ahead and get it done, don’t wait.

Juanita is preceded in death by her parents, Arie and Mona Galloway; sister, Mary Reed; and brothers, Roy, Douglas and Charlie Galloway.

She is survived by her husband, Delmer Adams; her son, Tony Suber (Jan); and daughters, Angie Oswalt (Warren), Sonya Cohn (Chuck), Janie Griffith (Bobby Gunter), Laurie Truett, and Marie Lawrence (Butch); sisters, Nora Kirkland and Dorothy Dean; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
