Jimmy Wayne Owen, a life-long resident of Westville, Florida passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 14, 2026, twelve days after his seventy-ninth birthday. He was the son of Wayne and Marclyn Anderson Owen and a graduate of Ponce de Leon High School. Jimmy’s personality was the reason everyone he met enjoyed his company. His sense of humor would have people laughing in a matter of minutes. Many in the community remember him as their rural mail carrier, a job he truly enjoyed. Jimmy loved spending time with his family and always looked forward to their visits. He rose early and worked late on his farm, but that was his way of life, a life that gave him great pleasure. Tending to his cows, horses, and all the other animals, fishponds, and hay fields kept him busy. He was a dedicated and loved member of the Beulah Anna Baptist Church family. Also, those who knew and loved to joke with him about it, knew one thing----"Jimmy Wayne could not whisper.”
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Sasnett.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Kerensa Owen; one daughter, Tracey Carpenter and husband Mark; one son, Jim Owen and wife Kelly; three grandsons, Owen, Collin, and Austin Carpenter; one granddaughter, Mahaley Owen; siblings, Brenda Griffith and husband Cary, Gary Sasnett and wife Charlotte, David Jeter, Donna Cordrey and husband Mark, Jeffery Owen, Diane Breeden, and one he loved like a brother, Lonzo Hornsby; numerous nieces and nephews, countless friends, and his church family.
A time of visitiation will be held Friday, April 17, 2026 in the chapel of Beulah Anna Baptist Church, 1334 Coursey Road, Westville, Florida 32464, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Beulah Anna Baptist Church beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Minister Joel Davis officiating.
