Jason Dennis Owen

Jason Dennis Owen, age 54, passed away Friday, June 19, 2026, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Bayou George located in Bay County. He was born August 22, 1971, in Panama City, Florida to Dennis H. and Linda Martin Owen. After graduating from high school in Panama City, he attended and graduated from Haney Technical College. Jason specialized in paint and body work. Using these acquired skills, he began working with Miller Marine in Southport, Florida, painting boats and yachts. Music was one of his favorite interests, having numerous guitars in his collection. He enjoyed singing and playing in many different places in Panama City.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Martin “Marty” Owen; grandparents, W.W. and Cordell Martin and Dallas and Edith Owen; uncle, James V. Martin; and cousin, Edie Owen.

Jason is survived by his mother, Linda Martin Russ of Ponce Leon, Florida; sisters, Tammie Barnes (Tom), Mercedes Russ, and Aliyah Russ; stepsons, Steven, Brian,  Jeffrey, and Johnny; aunts, Marjie Martin Buchanan and Adrianna Martin; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins; and one special cousin whom was his best friend and fishing buddy, Holly Owen McMillan. 

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 28, 2026 in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 State Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433 beginning at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry McGowan officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
