Obituary
James Jefferson Schofield, age 74, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at his home. He was born November 21, 1948, in Hacoda, Alabama, to Ralph Schofield and Birdie Dukes Schofield. James was a loving father and grandfather. A mechanic by trade, he had a knack for fixing anything. James loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar.
He is preceded in death by his son, Frankie Schofield; and wife, Sue Bowden Schofield.
James is survived by his son, William Schofield (Sam); daughters, Lora Lilland (Troy), and Jenny Schofield (Shawn); six grandchildren, Johnny Wayne Schofield, Allen Walker, Chris Griggs, Nikki Byrum, Nicholas Hester, and James Hester; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Gary Schofield (Helen); one niece, April Schofield; and many other family members, friends, and loved ones.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 18, 2023, at Eight Mile Cemetery, with Pastor Dan Hershey officiating.
Arrangements and services are under the direction of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home of DeFuniak Springs.
