James Louie Peterson

James Peterson, age 72, of Westville, Florida, passed away peacefully August 2, 2026. He was born January 25, 1954 in Bonifay, Florida to HH and Dorothy Minger Peterson. James proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for twenty years before dedicating twenty years of service to the State of Florida Department of Corrections. He was a man of integrity, strength, and unwavering dedication to both his country and his community. Above all, James cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who found his greatest joy in spending time with those he loved. His kindness, wisdom, and steady presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew him.

James is survived by his loving wife, Beth Peterson; his son, Chris Peterson (Mallorie); and his two beloved grandchildren, Kennedy Peterson, age 9, and James Cole Peterson, age 3. His family was the center of his life, and his love for them will remain an enduring legacy.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at Hickory Hill Baptist Church, 1656 Hickory Hill Road, Westville, Florida beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Joel Davis officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Committal services will follow in the church cemetery and honors will be provided by the United States Air Force. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate James’ life, honor his service, and share in remembering the man he was.
