James McLeod Obituary

James Allen McLeod, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and cherished member of the Freeport community, passed away peacefully April 15, 2024. James, born September 1, 1951, in Texas to Murdock and Odell McLeod, embarked on his life journey with a spirit of warmth, dedication, and a zest for life that touched the hearts of all who knew him. Throughout his career of over fifteen years with Golden Flake, James earned the endearing nickname "The Tator Chip Man" among colleagues and friends. His commitment to his work was matched only by his dedication to his family and community. James was a pillar of strength and support for those around him, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. Beyond his professional endeavors, James found immense joy in coaching Little League, imparting his wisdom and passion for sports to the next generation. His love for the outdoors led him to pursue hobbies such as floundering and hunting. An active member of his local church, James found fulfillment in serving others and nurturing his faith. His devotion to his spiritual beliefs was evident in every aspect of his life, inspiring those around him to embrace compassion and kindness. James's greatest source of pride and joy was his family.

James is survived by his wife, Geraldine McLeod; son, Ryan McLeod; daughter, Kimberly McLeod (Travis Blow); granddaughter, Kenley McLeod (Sterling “Elvis” Hendrix); grandson, Aidan Blow; granddaughter, Maille Blow; daughter, Michelle Ringo (Troy); grandsons, Colt Heard (Haley) and Dustin Heard; great grandson, Lane; and his dog, Jax; along with cherished extended family and friends in Pensacola, Florida.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Murdock and Odell McLeod; his brother, David McLeod; and grandson, Wyatt Heard. Though he may have left this world, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, with a visitation hour for friends beginning at 4:00 p.m. and the service at 6:00 p.m. at Heritage Church, located at 926 County Highway 83A West in Freeport, Florida. Pastor Blake Pryor will be officiating. 

Arrangements and services are under the direction of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home.
