James (Jim) Langford, age 85, of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida passed unexpectedly and peacefully in the arms of the Lord, surrounded by loved ones, on May 16, 2019.
Jim was born January 8, 1934 in North Ft Myers, Florida to the parents of James and Jewel Langford. In October 1952 Jim enlisted into the United States Air Force and completed his schooling as a helicopter mechanic in San Marcos, TX. He married his high school sweetheart Bobbie on January 15, 1955. From there, Jim and Bobbie were stationed in multiple states such as South Carolina, Nevada, Colorado and Florida and also Okinawa, Japan. He served in Vietnam as a Helicopter Mechanic. After serving 20 faithful years with Bobbie by his side, he retired in November 1972 at Eglin AFB in Fort Walton Beach, FL where they made their forever home. He worked multiple jobs and participated in the Shriners Club for many year before committing 32 years with Modern Woodman of America where he then retired in January of 2007.
He is survived by his beloved sister, Annette Blough(Chuck); his nieces, Carla Talerico (Fred), Teri Dixon(Dan); nephew, Ron Blough; two daughters, Cynthia Davidson (Greg) and Vicki Richburg (Bo); grandchildren, Amber Midland(Kenny), Travis Brenon, and Kayla Dawson (Taylor); three precious great-grandchildren, Peighton, Ashlyn Midland and Briar Dawson.
Jim is preceded in death by his mother, Jewel Langford and his father, James Langford, his beloved wife, soul mate and best friend of 64 years, Barbara M Langford.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Davis Watkins Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road NE, Fort Walton Beach, Florida 32547.
A special thanks to Emerald Coast Hospice & nurse, Tracy R. for the excellent care they provided Mr. Jim in his final days. Also, a special thanks to Shawnna, Tracie, Debbie and Michael and all of the amazing people who showered him with love and care.
Jim was a beloved husband, brother, father and father in law, grandfather and great grandfather. His charming personality, big heart and sense of humor will be greatly miss by all who loved and knew him.
