James Hammer Obituary

James “Jimmie” Anthony Hammer, age 91, passed away on April 19, 2022 at his home in Mary Esther, Florida. Jimmie was born December 30, 1930 and grew up in the small town of
Newcastle, Wyoming. He was a loving son to Grace and Jim Hammer, and wonderful brother to Nedra, Jinny, Mickey, Shirley, Verna, Janie and Murray. At age 20, Jimmie joined the United States Navy, serving from 1950 to 1954, before he was honorably discharged. During his 4 years of service, he spent 3 years and 17 days aboard the USS Chickasaw working as the only electrician on the ship. After serving our country, Jimmie settled in Mary Esther, Florida where he and Vinnie Flores started Arcon Electric. He had a work ethic like no other and was still working at the ripe age of 91. Jimmie thrived on giving and helping others. He was humble and kind beyond measure, as loving as they come, and never met a stranger.

Jimmie has many nieces and nephews that he adored, countless friends that considered him family, and of course his two furry friends, Sadie and Mae Mae.

Jimmie’s final resting place will be at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida. A celebration of Jimmie's life will be held in his honor at Bob Hope Village in Shalimar, Florida on June 12, 2022 at 4:00 P.M.
