Jacob Gagne Obituary

Captain Jacob Robert Gagne US Army, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, the 9th of May, 2020, in Vancouver Washington, at the age of 33.

Jacob was warmly welcomed into this world on May 18, 1986 in Okinawa, Japan to abundantly supportive young parents, John and Jennifer Gagne and excited to be the big brother, Jeremy. As his family settled in Florida, Jacob became a Fort Walton Beach native at age 4. Jacob was readily recognized as a polite, caring, and fun-loving spirit. His creative side shone in BETA children’s theater with his love for acting and he always had an encouraging word for those who passed his way.

Jacob graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach, Fl., attended University of West Florida ROTC program, earned his BA in Psychology, finishing his education by earning his Masters Degree in Geological Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology.

Jacob commissioned in the US Army Reserve 2013, to go on to become full time Active Guard Reserve, being promoted to Captain below the zone after exemplary service. CPT. Jacob Robert Gagne served with distinction as Platoon Leader, then Company Commander of the 344th Engineer Company (Sapper), Tallahassee, FL; Executive Officer 926 Engineer BDE  Headquarters Montgomery, AL.; finally serving as BDE OPS Officer, 95 TNG DIV 2 BDE HQ, Vancouver WA.

Jacob is survived by his forever grateful and loving parents, Jennifer and John, and brother, Jeremy, of Fort Walton Beach, FL; also survived by Uncles Steve Gagne (Leslie), Jimmy Gagne (Maria), 8 beautiful and talented cousins and his beloved dogs, Scooter and Java. 

Jacob’s Remembrance is scheduled for Sunday, the 31st of May. The family will receive friends starting at 6pm, with US Army Military Honors and Celebration of Life commencing at 6:30pm. We will be holding the service on the outdoor deck of Bay Cafe, located at 233 Alconese Ave SE, Fort Walton Beach, FL. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Jacob’s life.
