Jack Beery Obituary

Jack Beery, 92, of Shalimar, Florida, formerly of Dayton, Ohio, and Canandaigua, New York, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025.

Born on August 16, 1933, Jack was the son of the late Abraham Beery and the late Etta McCammon Beery, and the beloved brother of the late Jill Cleary. He proudly served in the United States Army for twenty-three years, retiring as a captain; afterwards, he began a long and accomplished career as an engineer and inventor. Jack’s professional life reflected the same values that guided him personally—dedication, ingenuity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Jack was the devoted husband of the late Marion Beery, with whom he shared fifty-eight years of marriage. Their life together was filled with love, adventure, and happiness. He was a caring father to four daughters, Patricia Howard, Deborah Webster, Kathryn Pelton, and the late Mary Smith. After Marion’s passing in 2010, Jack was blessed to find love and companionship again with the late Claudette Heinrich.

He is survived by his daughters, Patti, Debbie, and Kathy, along with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom brought him great joy and carry forward his legacy.

Jack will be fondly remembered for his intelligence, sharp wit, and a laugh that warmed any room. Known for his playful sense of humor and practical jokes, he had a gift for bringing joy to those around him. He had a special fondness for bluebirds and spent many contented hours in his woodshop perfecting birdhouses with an engineer’s precision. Above all, Jack never hesitated to support the people he loved. He was at his best when he was helping; steady, practical, and wholly committed.

Visitation will be held at The Church at Shalimar, 1 Old Ferry Road, Shalimar, Florida, on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. A reception will be held immediately following the funeral. Interment with military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, at a later date.
