Ivy Emelia (McReynolds) Smith-Trovas

The beautiful Ivy Emelia McReynolds Smith-Trovas peacefully entered her eternal home on July 13, 2026, at the age of 78, surrounded by the love of her family.

Ivy is survived by Chris Trovas, her husband for 30 years, her daughter, Ashley Tyler (Scott), son, Michael Smith (Rhonda), and her grandchildren; better known as “Mimmie” to Kyle Muldoon, Ryan Muldoon, Ethan Muldoon, Benji Smith, Davis Tyler and Annie Tyler.

She is also survived by her sister, Alice Forrester; her nieces, Paige Turner and Leigh Cantrell; many beloved cousins, extended family members, dear friends, and her faithful dog, Bear.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alma and Ivan McReynolds; her beloved sister, Reecy Turner; her nephew, Jeff Turner; her niece, Dara Smith; and Chris’s parents, Janet and Milton Trovas.

One of Ivy’s favorite quotations beautifully reflected the way she lived:

“Let your boat of life be light, packed with only what you need. A homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends, worth the name. Someone to love and someone to love you, a cat, a dog, and a pipe or two. Enough to eat and enough to wear, and a little more than enough to drink; for thirst is a dangerous thing.”

Ivy loved the Gulf Coast’s sugar white sand and emerald green waters. She especially loved the years she and Chris spent in Rosemary Beach at their restaurant, Wild Olives, where she welcomed visitors and friends with the same warmth and hospitality that defined her.  

The last chapter of Ivy’s life was marked by vascular dementia, but she remained deeply loved through it all. Our family is forever grateful to the nursing staff and aids at Brookdale Memory Care in SanDestin and Vitas Healthcare Hospice in Niceville for the kindness, dignity, and compassion they showed her and our family.

Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace. We will forever remember her warm smile, jovial sense of humor, and the unconditional love she gave so freely.
