Hugh Kendall Obituary

 

Hugh Thomas Kendall, 73, of Destin, Florida, passed away on May 7, 2018 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He was born on January 3, 1945 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Joseph and Montez Kendall. He graduated from Englewood High School, Jacksonville, FL.
 

 

He was a long time resident of Fort Walton Beach moving here in 1973. He proudly served and worked for the United States Air Force and in the Civil Service from 1963-2004. Hugh was a car enthusiast, including drag racing, car customization and show cars, an avid outdoorsmen, and a community volunteer where he gave his time serving as Board of Directors for Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers, former Board of Director for AMI Kids Emerald Coast, former Board of Director of Sunset Vettes, former Board of Director of the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce. He was known throughout the civic community as a dedicated volunteer giving back to his community, which earned him Ambassador of the Year for the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce and Volunteer of the Year for Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Thomas Kendall and Montez Kuhn and is survived by his loving wife, Jill Kendall; children, Brian Kendall, Miranda (William) Hurst and Maci Kendall; grandchildren, Grace, Emily, Cole, Callie and Waylon; sister, Kay (Bent) Lane; brother, Noel (Nancy) Kuhn; and mother in law, Bettye Scott.

The family will receive friends at Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road, NE, Fort Walton Beach, FL, on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Grace Church, 216 Eglin Parkway, Fort Walton Beach, FL, on Friday, May 11, 2018 at beginning at 11 am with Pastor Dave officiating.

A private family burial will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery with military honors at a later date.
