Homer Roman Granius, of Destin, Florida passed away on March 5, 2026. He was born November 20, 1928 in Duvall, Wisconsin to Desire and Verna Malcore Granius. He married Elaine Ledvina on October 14, 1950. Homer learned to weld at Bay Ship Building in Sturgeon Bay, then started Granius Welding Shop near Luxemburg, Wisconsin in the late 1950s. He built farm wagons and did custom welding and fabricating until he retired.
Homer is survived by his wife, Elaine; daughters, Mary Granius Salm and Paula Smits and her husband, John Smits; grandson, Michael Smits (special friend, Megan Hein); great grandson, Luca and great granddaughter, Macie, as well as Megan’s children, Caeden, Kennadee, and Kaysynn; grandson, Matthew Smits and his wife, Megan Millot Smits; and granddaughter, Erica Salm Rensch and her husband, Tyler, and their children, Ricky, Brighton and Lincoln.
He is further survived by his brother, Roland (Leland) Granius of Panama City, FL; sister, Christine Chaudoir of Brussels, WI; and sister, Jeanne Gigot Bushner of Casco, Wi and her husband, Bill.
Homer was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Rick Salm; brothers-in-law, Llewellyn Gigot and and Jack Chaudoir; sister-in-law, Judy Granius; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Watzka, and her husband, Jerry.
A Funeral mass will be held at Resurrection Church in Miramar Beach, Florida on Saturday March 14th at 11:00 a.m., while the visitation will begin one hour prior, at 10:00 a.m. A private interment will be at Beal Memorial Cemetery in Fort Walton Beach, FL.
