Helen Driggers Obituary

Helen Scott Driggers, age 99 years and 8 months, of Destin, Florida passed away Thursday night, July 2, 2026. Helen was born November 1, 1926, in Union, South Carolina to Charles Maxwell Scott and Clara Elizabeth Turner.

A resident of Atlanta for 40 years, Helen and her husband Art moved to Destin, Florida in 2001 to be near their two children and grandson. As an active member of the Destin Methodist Church, Helen enjoyed singing in the choir, attending classical music concerts, and watercolor art classes. She was a member of the Destin Library Guild and patron of Sinfonia Gulf Coast Orchestra.

Helen first attended Bob Jones University, then Spartanburg Junior College, where she met her future husband, Art Driggers, and graduated from Lander College at the age of 20, where she was a member of the May Court. After college, she moved to Poughkeepsie, New York, where she worked in the Children’s Home. A year later, she married Art and moved to Columbus, Georgia.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Art. She is survived by her son, Arthur Driggers, III; daughter, Nancy Driggers Saleeby (Charlie) of Destin, FL; grandson Kyle Scott Saleeby (Regan) of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Kathryn Bishop of Dothan, Alabama and Jeanelle Wingo of Union, South Carolina; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and their children.

Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the Destin Methodist Church, 200 Beach Drive, Destin, Florida. The Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 a.m., and a reception will follow in the Atrium Room. A burial service will be held after the reception at Destin Memorial Cemetery, 111 Stahlman Avenue, entrance on Sibert Avenue. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Destin Methodist Church Sanctuary Choir.
