Gloria MacKenzie Obituary

Gloria C. MacKenzie, 92, wife of the late Ralph MacKenzie, Jr., died Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at her home.  She was born December 23, 1928 in Sherman, Maine, the daughter of Alvah and Effie (Curtis) Perry.

Gloria loved to play softball in school and adult leagues. She also enjoyed going on trips with the Senior Citizens groups she belonged to in Maine and Florida, as well as playing bingo.  Gloria was a proud member of the American Legion Aux. She also was the founder of the Gloria C. MacKenzie Foundation.  She truly enjoyed the work of the foundation and the distribution of the grants annually to deserving communities throughout Northern Maine.

Gloria thoroughly enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She especially enjoyed summers in Maine when the grandchildren were out of school and visiting.  She really enjoyed the births of her great grandchildren.  Pictures were a must.  She liked knitting slippers and crocheting blankets for all the kids.  She also loved camping and traveling the states with the family.

Gloria is survived by her daughters, Jaimie and husband, Bernard Weinberg, and Melinda MacKenzie; son, Lawrence and wife, Kathryn MacKenzie; grandsons, Matthew and wife, Sarah Weinberg, Alexander and wife, Shawna Weinberg, Lawrence Scott and wife, Samantha MacKenzie; and granddaughter, Lindsay MacKenzie and her husband, Rich; great granddaughters, Sienna, Selby, Victoria, and Addison; and great grandsons, Archer, Parker, Greyson, and Ethan; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and her husband, Gloria was preceded in death by a son, Richard; two brothers, Baine Perry and Sherwood Perry; and two sisters, Mavis Morgan and Helen McNally.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please donate or volunteer your time to your local community.
