Glendon Jones, Jr. Obituary

Glendon "Bunky" Reeves Jones, Jr. passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022. He was born on May 19, 1950 in Somers Point, New Jersey and grew up with his family in Paulsboro, New Jersey. He graduated high school, attended the local community college, then enlisted to serve in the United States Air Force. The Air Force took him many places, such as Thailand and Germany, eliciting a versatile taste for travel and adventure. Bunky served for 23 years, spending the majority of that time at Eglin AFB in the Aerospace Ground Equipment branch. He would modestly call himself a mechanic, but his girls would attest that he truly had a knack for fixing anything! While in the Air Force, he earned his BAS in Applied Science in Aircraft Repair Facility Management and his MS in Counseling through Troy State University.

After retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant, Bunky went right back to work in a contracted position with Lockheed in the same branch. He served as a volunteer counselor with Bridgeway, gladly helping others seeking a healthier life. Not one to miss a diverse experience, Bunky drove a school bus for a few years and eventually earned his teaching degree so that he could enjoy the summertime with his teacher wife.

Once he finally fully retired, he and his wife were blessed to indulge in their relish for travel, dining, and exploring the United States and Europe. Bunky enjoyed golfing and even made a hole-in-one not just once in his lifetime, but twice! He was generous, spirited, quick-witted, and always ready to make others smile. When asked how he was doing, he would promptly respond, Better than I deserve.” Bunky was incredibly grateful for his many blessings throughout his rich, full life. He will be undeniably missed.

Bunky was preceded in death by his parents Glendon Reeves Jones, Sr. and Helen Mae Stopfer Jones; and his sisters Cheryl Jones and Beverly Cotton.

He is survived by his adoring wife of twenty-seven years Marilyn “Missy” Jameson Jones; daughter Shannon and her husband Micah Mallory and their children Abigail, Selah, Elyse, Noelle, Micah J, Levi, Elijah, and Isaiah; daughter Jennifer and her husband Edward McDougald and their children Lorelai, Vaida, Jonas, and Georgia; and his fluffy friend Oliver.
