Gary Christopher Schrang, age 53, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, service and deep love for his family.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Christopher B. Schrang; his brother, Casey Reed McCarty; and his aunt, Linda Schrang Brotherton.
He is survived by his loving mother, Jeanne Marie Carter; his stepfather, Tommy W. Currid; his sister, Kristi J. Stevenson and her husband, John L Stevenson; his sister, Melissa M McCarty; and his brother, Scott A McCarty. He also leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews: John Carter Stevenson, Yiting Xiao Stevenson, Catherine Stevenson, Savannah Stevenson, Judah and Maxwell Wieczorek. Gary is further survived by his aunt, Judy Carter; his cousins Troy and Heather Carter; and their children, Ben, Julie, Will and Gabriella Carter and cousins, Kat Fon and Jennifer Stanley .
Gary proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Gunner's Mate, where he was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii. His time in the service reflected his strength, dedication and sense of duty.
A man of many talents, Gary was a Certified Sound Engineer, a gifted musician and an imaginative artist. His deep love for creative expression touched the lives of those around him. He was also an exceptional chef, sharing his passion for cooking at his family's Cajun restaurant in Louisiana, where they brought people together through food, laughter and hospitality.
He will be remembered for his creativity, his generous spirit, the way he made others feel welcomed and valued and his deep connection to those he loved.
His Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 28th at Seagrove Baptist Church on 30A in Santa Rosa Beach at 10:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, Gary would be honored for your donation to Seagrove Baptist Church, noted either for the Guatemala Mission Trip or Gideon‘s International.
