Gary Guzewich, born in Queens, New York, to parents, Phillip and Henrietta Guzewich, passed away July 7, 2026. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jean Guzewich; and sons, Peter Guzewich and Jason Guzewich of Destin, Florida; brothers, Paul Guzewich ( Ann) of the UK, and Ronald Guzewich ( Terry) of Long Island; nieces, Liza Guzewich ( Lori), of Crestview, FL, and Linzi Sawyer ( Andy) of the UK; and nephew, Paul (Sharon) of the UK.
Gary attended Aviation High School in NYC, and graduated from University of South Florida ( Tampa) with a Mechanical Engineering degree. After graduation, he went to work for Celanese Chemical in Bay City, Texas and retired from Celanese after 35 years with his Professional Engineering (PE) and Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications. Gary worked many major projects over the years in Kings Mountain, NC, Bishop Texas, Wilmington, NC, and Florence, KY.
Upon retirement from Celanese, Gary worked for ten years for Chemetall Foote, Rockwood Lithium, and Albemarle Corp all in the same location in Kings Mountain, NC. Retiring again, Gary moved to Destin, FL to be closer to his two sons, Peter and Jason. Over the years, Gary enjoyed his favorite hobby, flying and building Radio Control planes, with his sons and friends.
The service to celebrate Gary's life will be at Shoreline Church at 10:00 a.m. on August 14th at 14 Palmetto Street in Destin, Florida.
