Gale Martin Blount, age 82, a resident of Florala, Alabama went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2020, surrounded by family and his dog, Lily. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for twenty-two years before retiring. Following retirement, he began working with Civil Service at the Eglin Commissary, retiring for the second time after twenty years of employment. He was an active member in his church, and a willing volunteer ready to lend a helping hand anytime there was a need.
Gale loved to go camping and always looked forward to meeting his friends at (the office) McDonald’s for morning coffee. When he arrived, there was always a smile on his face.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Loyal Irvin and Thelma Mae Blount; his first wife of forty-seven years, Karin I. Blount; wife of four years, Lavern Blount; one sister, Caren; and his dog, Gator.
Gale is survived by his four children, Carol Lawhorn, Cynthia Richardson, Tony Blount and wife Jeannette, and Darrel Blount; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great grand child on the way; and one brother, Dennis Blount and wife Erna of Auburn, Nebraska.
Gale loved his family, church family, and his many friends. He will truly be missed by all.
Graveside services will be held Monday, July 6, 2020 at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola beginning at 10:30 a.m. with military honors provided by the United States Air Force. All in attendance must wear a mask.
