Frances "Fran" Virginia (McMullin) Kirschten

Frances “Fran” Virginia Kirschten passed way on November 24, 2025, at her home with her two children at her side, Jennifer Marie Kirschten and Michael Robert Kirschten. She was 78 years old.

Fran was born in South Bend, Indiana to Robert Hamilton McMullin and Eunice Atkins McMullin on November 30, 1946. She graduated from New Carlise High School, Indiana, in 1964. She then moved to Palatine, Illinois with her parents and siblings. On July 19, 1969, she married William Joseph Kirschten in Chicago, Illinois. William and Fran retired to Destin, Florida in 2005. They remained married until William’s death on May 28, 2025, in Destin, Florida.

Fran retired from Cook County Health Department as an office administrator.

She enjoyed reading and was an accomplished knitter. She and her husband had traveled to many places over the years while celebrating their retirement.

She is survived by her two children, Michael and Jennifer; grandchildren, Mariah, Joe, and Victoria; sisters, JaneAnn McMullin and Carolyn Whitworth; sister-in-law, Sue Kirschten; and many nieces and nephews.
