Evelyn Josephine Moultrie

October 27, 1927 ~ May 3, 2021 (age 93)

On 3 May 2021 Evelyn Josephine (Hill) Moultrie, the tiny, red-headed energizer bunny, flew off to heaven to be with the love of her life, Cois (Pee Wee) Moultrie.  He was playing a gig with Hank Williams Sr., and she didn’t want to miss it.  Her best feathered friend George was there as well.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents: Roy and Lillian Hill; her brothers:  David Hill and Robert Hill; sisters:  Rose Robinson and Irene Livingston.  Also preceding her in death was her daughter Janet Smith Erickson.  Evelyn leaves behind a collection of about 100 frog figurines and a grieving family:  step daughters Ann Jackson (Clyde), and Patti Bayless (Tom), most beloved granddaughter Christy Weltman (Jonathan), grandsons Jay Jackson (Stacey), Jason Palmer, and Richard Erickson, granddaughters Rachel Jackson, Lisa Butler (Kenny), great grandson Carter Jackson, great granddaughters Tabitha Smith, Jessica Smith, Ella Jackson, Alice Butler and Penny Butler and last, but not least, great great granddaughter Adelynn Anderson, and many nieces and nephews.

The family extends a most profound thank you to the staff at Hawthorn House for years of wonderful, loving care.  Thanks as well to Nichole of Emerald Coast Hospice and Dr Wong at FWB Medical Center, the nurses of Kindred, and numerous physical and occupational therapists.  Also many thanks to Patricia Hale (Patrick), her devoted niece.

The shopping centers, casinos, cosmetic industry, Florida Lottery, her hairdresser Patty, and the Hank Williams Festival in Georgianna will miss her almost as much as the rest of us. All her friends at Hawthorn House thought of her as family.  She was a kind and caring lady, and we are sure Pee Wee (and George) will be very happy to see her again.

A funeral service will be conducted at Davis Watkins Funeral Home in Ft Walton Beach on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 2 pm.  Evelyn will be buried with Pee Wee at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hawthorn House 1200 Hawthorn House Drive, Shalimar, Florida 32579  https://www.hawthornhouse.us/
