Evelyn Louise Grooms Lowry was welcomed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on May 27, 2021 in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. Evelyn was the first of six children born on June 16, 1924 to Joseph and Edie Grooms in Elba, AL. In 1942, Evelyn and Maloy Lowry exchanged marriage vows and were together for 66 years until Maloy’s passing in 2008. They resided in Ft. Walton Beach, FL since 1957.
She learned to sew at a young age and became an accomplished seamstress. Her customers included wives for local generals and colonels, Billy Bowlegs participants, and realtors. Evelyn loved fashion and jewelry and was always dressed to the nines when she was out on the town. She fiercely loved the Lord and was a member and Sunday school teacher at Cinco Baptist Church. Her greatest blessing was her family and they always received unconditional and unselfish love, and she of them.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, sister Peggy Moore, and brothers Joseph Grooms Jr. and Randolph Grooms. She is survived by sisters Joann Gamble of Headland, AL and Christine Proesl of St. Mary’s, PA. Along with her children Richard Lowry and wife Linda of Destin, FL and daughter Elaine Lowry of Crestview, FL, she is survived by grandchildren Lara Rudolph of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Leigh Lowry of Alexandria, VA; Chad Coup of Altamonte Springs, FL; Melissa Puglisi and husband Joe of Ashburn, VA; and great-grandsons Cameron and Connor Rudolph of Crestview, FL.
A memorial service will be held on June 19, 2021, 11:00am, at Crosspoint Church Marler Chapel, 214 Partin Dr. S., Niceville FL.
