Esther Joana Cheek, 36, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida woke up in the arms of Jesus on Sunday, February 9, 2020 in the early hours of the morning. Esther was born on September 4, 1983 in Waynesburg, PA to Ralph John Cheek, Sr. and Lanora Smith Dube. She graduated from Berean Christian Academy in 2001, then later completed her nursing education and became an LPN in 2010. Esther lived her life to help others and to put a smile on the face of every person with whom she came into contact. She was an active member of The Rock in DeFuniak Springs.
Esther is survived by her parents, Ralph Cheek of Maiden, NC and Lonnie Dube of Fort Walton Beach, FL; her siblings: John (Cynthia) Cheek of Fort Walton Beach, FL; Audrey (David) Lewis of Fort Walton Beach, FL; Bekah (Clifton) Wallace of Port Richey, FL; Jordan (Kayla) Taylor of Fort Walton Beach, FL and Charlotte Smith of Fort Walton Beach, FL. She is also survived by her large, loving family including nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and boyfriend, Clay Landingham.
A time of visitation will be held at Davis Watkins Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road NE, Fort Walton Beach, Florida, 32547, on Thursday, February 13, 2020 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Hollywood Boulevard Baptist Church, 204 Hollywood Blvd NE, Fort Walton Beach, FL, 32548 on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 11:00 am with a Graveside service to follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery. The officiant is Pastor Willie Pace, with special guest, Pastor David Phelps. Pallbearers are John Cheek, Jordan Taylor, Jack Wallace, David Lewis, Bill Crowe, and Clay Landingham.
This sudden loss came as a surprise to all who knew and loved her. We, as her family, trust in God's plan and find comfort knowing she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and we will one day see her again. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be sent to Davis Watkins in honor of Esther Cheek. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home.
