Emily Eakins Vick

Emily Eakins Vick passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23,2025, in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. She was born on February 20, 1934, in Wilmington North Carolina, to Ernest and Nell Sturdivant Eakins. On October 4, 1953, Emily married her high school sweetheart, Hugh C. Vick. Throughout their 71 years of marriage, she supported Hugh's career by relocating with him multiple times before settling in Jonesboro, Arkansas ; There, they raised their family while Hugh owned a car dealership and Emily contributed both at the office and at home. After retirement, Emily and Hugh made their home in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Emily was an avid golfer who enjoyed puzzles, and found joy in watching the wildlife along the bayou, outside her window. She was known for her dry wit and deep love for her family. She is survived by her husband, Hugh C. Vick, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida ; her daughter Michelle Vick Fulmer (Arthur) of Germantown, Tennessee ; her granddaughter Phoebe Fulmer of Nashville, Tennessee ; and her grandson Hill Fulmer, of Dallas, Texas. Emily was predeceased by two children, William Hugh Vick and Kimberly Sue Vick, and her sister, Alice Eakins Hall. A celebration of Emily's life will be held at Christ the King Episcopal Church, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, on Tuesday, April 15,at 11:00 am with a reception afterward. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to a charity of your choice. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
