Elizabeth Fortin Hawthorne, age 72, of Freeport, Florida, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Ascension Sacred Heart on the Emerald Coast in Miramar Beach, Florida. She was born March 29, 1950, in Hartford, Connecticut to Dyer Henry Carroll and Elizabeth Ann Cramer Carroll. She grew up in Connecticut until she moved to Freeport in the late 1980's.
Elizabeth was employed with Walton County School District, where she worked as a bus driver until she retired. She was very family oriented and her house was full of loved ones every Thanksgiving and Christmas. Elizabeth loved playing Bingo, but she loved Elvis Presley more.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Arthur Fortin; daughter, Brenda Lee Walker; grandson, Timothy Paul Kelly; and husband, Gerald Hawthorne.
Elizabeth is survived by one son, Anthony Walker Jr. (Tammy); one daughter, Norma Umble (Todd); stepchildren, Alan Fortin (Dora), Jason Fortin (Linda), Yolanda Decker (Jimmy), Laurie Snyder, and Dawn Fortin (James); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Debbie White (Bill); and many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, February 12, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 State Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433.
