Edward Arlester Grimes, Sr

Edward Arlester Grimes, Sr., age 44, of Crestview, Florida passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023 in Belle Chasse, LA where he worked as a concrete finisher for Zachry Industrial. Inc.  He was born February 3, 1979 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Being a concrete finisher was his passion, but he was also a  nationally certified flagger and worked in the  landscaping industry.

Edward went to Choctawhatchee High School, but prior to high school he was a decorated cross country runner in Okaloosa County from elementary through middle school. Edward was smart, funny, and a  jokester.  He was indeed a Grill master (best chicken ever), as well as the self proclaimed "King" of crawfish boils. Although he referred to himself as the King others may have had other nicknames like, Stick leg- acorn head-big knee guy; the Baby; Gorilla Grimes Brother, and last but not least Grimey.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arlester Grimes, Sr.; step-father, Robert L. Wilson; brother, Arlester Grimes, Jr.

Edward is survived by his mother, Deadra Wilson; step-mother, Ethel Grimes; wife, Roshell Womack Grimes; children: Jordyn LaShea Walls, Isaiah Arlester Grimes, Keanna Ari’yanna Grimes-Hilliard, Jariyah Brindasia Lovely-Grimes, Nykeria Lashell Grimes, Edward Arlester Grimes, Jr.; granddaughter, Violet Logan Hamilton; brother, Derrick Arlester Grimes, Sr.; sisters, Tania Grimes Eastman (Rob), Katrina Grimes Raines (Paul); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws whom he dearly loved.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023 in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 State Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433, beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Walter Ales officiating.  A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
