Edd Samuel Jenkins, Jr., affectionately known as “Sam”, age 76, of Clyde, North Carolina, passed away Friday, April 24, 2026, in Destin, Florida, after succumbing to a long battle with heart disease.
He was born on September 10, 1949, in Buncombe County, North Carolina, a son of the late Edd and Madeline Jenkins, he grew up in the Wolfe Laurel community with his siblings, Sharon, Jim, Hazel and David. Later in life, Sam found out he had a half-sister, Shirley Semesky.
Sam was quiet, kind and gentle man who would have given anyone the shirt off his back. He was a very skilled tradesman, who owned a heating and cooling business for most of his life, serving multiple counties in Western, North Carolina. He liked staying busy, doing everything from building homes to collecting vintage cars, radios and jukeboxes. All of which he could tear apart and put back together with his seemingly unlimited knowledge of so many things. When he was not working, he enjoyed traveling whether it was by motorcycle or RV, venturing all over the United States with his wife and their pack of small dogs.
Sam is survived by his wife of 37 years, Goldie Hoxit Jenkins; daughters, Stephanie and Donna; son, Eddie; stepdaughter, Sonia; Yorkshire Terrier daughters, Kiki and Isa; grandchildren, Leslie, Scotty, Daniel, Ashley, Casey, Tim, Tiffany and Tamera; great grandchildren, Lydia, Mia, Amelia, Willow, Ella, Jordan, Jared, Jayden, Aubrianna, Olivia, CJ, Hunter, Weston, Elijah, Layne, Karoline, Hudson and another on the way; along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him. Sam is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Johnny. Sam had a selflessness, warmth, and generous spirit that will be remembered forever.
Currently, no service is scheduled, but a Celebration of Life, may be announced at a later date once his wife returns to North Carolina.
