Dub Stearn

Dub Stearn, age 67 passed away October 8, 2020 surrounded by the love of his family.   He was was raised in Florida and was the eldest of 5 children born to Jim and Julia Stearn. 

Dub, along with his wife Carol, moved to Fort Walton Beach, Florida in 1986 where he began his career as a field manager for Sprint Telephone Company.  Many years later, Dub found his passion working as a financial planner for North Florida Financial.  Dub loved people and never met a stranger so working as a financial planner was the perfect job for him.  He was always willing to stop and really listen to what was on your mind. Dub’s laughter was infectious and he was always up for a good time. He, along with Carol, enjoyed hosting poolside barbecues, game nights, movie and popcorn nights, and most of all home Bible studies. His home was open to everyone. 

Dub loved the Lord with all his heart which was evidenced by the way he led his life. He served faithfully as an elder of Destin Church of Christ until the time of his death.  Dub studied the Word of God diligently and was a wonderful Sunday school teacher and small group Bible study leader.

Dub is survived by his wife Carol, his two daughters Risa Knock (Evan), Selena Lafferty (Trevor) and his four grandchildren Stella, Escher, Maddox and Colin.  Dub is also survived by his beloved parents Jim and Julia Stearn as well as his siblings, Marci Scott, Mark Stearn, Gus Stearn and Dawn West and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate Dub’s life will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Destin Church of Christ located at 150 Beach Drive, Destin Florida.  A reception will follow in the church multi-purpose room.  All are welcome to stay.
