Douglas Edward Samuel passed away suddenly in his home on January 27, 2020 at approximaely 3:00 a.m. Doug was born on June 4, 1955 in Pensacola, FL, to his father, the late Elder Willie Cortez Samuel and mother, Ruby Samuel Cason. Doug, accepted Christ as his personal saviour at an early age and was a person who was always willing to give and share his blessings with others. He attended the Okaloosa County public schools. Douglas met and married Tressy B. Rodgers and later, they relocated to Cleveland, Ohio. He was employed by the City of Cleveland, in the Utlities Water Department until he retired after 25 years of service. He was a member of the “Second New Hope Church of God in Christ” in Cleveland.
Douglas leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Tressy B. Rodgers Samuel of Cleveland, OH; one son, Edric Samuel of Cleveland, OH; mother, Ruby Cason of Tampa, FL, one brother, Freddie Cason, III. of Fort Walton Beach, FL; three sisters, Jacqueline Hart of Tampa, FL, Deborah Green of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Anita Lewis of Tampa, FL; three grandchildren, Edric, Samira and Byrce all of Cleveland, OH; three sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends.
A Home Going Service will be held at Sylvania Heights First Baptist Church on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 2 pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery.
