Dorothy "Dot" McCoy Obituary

Dorothy Jean "Dot" McCoy passed away peacefully in Miramar Beach, Florida, on June 18, 2026. She was born on October 31, 1930, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1952, she married Arthur "Art" McCoy in Pittsburgh; they shared 50 beautiful years of marriage until his passing in 2002.

Dot’s faith and family were the cornerstones of her life. Art’s pioneering career in engineering modeling led the family on many adventures, residing in Pittsburgh, PA; Jacksonville Beach, FL; San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; and Woodstown, NJ. Once her children were all in school, Dot channeled her sharp mind into her own professional career. She became an Enrolled Agent with the IRS and successfully ran her own individual tax practice for many years.

They eventually retired to New Bern, NC, where Dot lived until 2013, when she relocated to Sandestin, FL, near her daughter, Mary Pat and son-in-law, Calvin.

Dot had a wonderful sense of humor enjoyed by all, and as Art always said, "she is cuter than Christmas". She was a lifelong duplicate bridge player, an avid reader, a talented cook, and a gracious hostess. Later in life, she took up golf and even celebrated a hole-in-one at the age of 70. Some of her fondest memories included doing crossword puzzles with Art while reading "the funnies" together in the morning. She was a dear friend to many and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her devoted children: Kathleen Kammer; Mary Pat Cedarleaf and her husband, Calvin; Cynthia Hendricks and her husband, Harold; Amy Guerra; and Michael McCoy and his wife, Pamela. She is also survived by nine cherished grandchildren: Daniel Kammer, Laura Allen (husband, Jesse), Jennifer Cedarleaf, Rachel Hendricks, Shannon Hendricks, Joseph Guerra (wife, Marjorie), Hayley Guerra, Riley McCoy, and Kate McCoy; and one great-grandson, Wade Allen.

Dot lived a full and rewarding life and is now at rest with God, reunited with her beloved husband and the family and friends who have been waiting for her.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Resurrection Catholic Church in Miramar Beach, FL, at a date to be determined.
