Dorothy Lena Outland Evans, a Virtuous Woman, Proverbs 31.

Sunrise March 25, 1940 - Sunset January 4, 2020

Dorothy was born March 25, 1940 to the late Tom and Josephine Outland in Marlin, Texas.  The family later moved to Lubbock, Texas where she met and married Carl Evans, a Sergeant in the US Air Force.  Over the next several years the family traveled and lived around the globe to include Mobile, Alabama, Panama City, Florida, Panama Canal, Panama and Las Vegas, Nevada.  In 1973 the family was stationed at Eglin AFB and settled down in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Coming from family that included a long line of beauticians, she took a leap of faith in 1976 and opened her own full line beauty salon.  For the next thirty plus years, she ran a successful business with the help of family and longtime associate, Connie Montgomery.  Dorothy’s Hair Care was a staple in the Fort Walton Beach community.  She was a strong supporter of community events and charities.  She also trained and mentored many in the beauty and health profession. 

In 1980, she joined First Church of Nazarene, Ft. Walton Beach, and was a faithful member until her passing. 

She was preceded in death by her son, Carl Evans Jr.; her parents; sisters, LuBertha Palmer; Vera Dill, Antionette Ford, Josephine Peoples; brothers, Ulysses Outland and Freddie Lee Outland.

She is survived by her loving husband, Carl Evans Sr.; daughter, Delvia Evans; son, Joseph Nicholson; godson, Nathaniel Barnes of Ft. Walton Beach; brother, Tom Outland Jr. of Fresno, California; grandchildren, Nicholas Evans (Sebina), Ersela Evans, Christopher Evans, Shaniqua Bess, Shaquila Evans; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

A visitation will take place Saturday, January 11, 2020, 1:00 at Davis Watkins Funeral Home, 113 NE Racetrack Road, Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, 32547.  Funeral services will follow the visitation and begin at 2:00.  Burial will take place at Beal Memorial Cemetery.
