Doreen Mary Halverson

Doreen Halverson went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 20th, 2021 In Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, surrounded by her family. Doreen was born in Newport, Wales on December 2, 1928.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Beckett Of Newport, Wales, she is survived by her children, Lynette Danish of Kearney, MO, Julie Jung of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Christine and (Jeff) Foster of Cottage Grove, OR, and William and (Pat) Halverson of Cudahy, WI; grandchildren, Carol Conklin of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Marilyn and Jim Duncomb of Kearney, MO, Christopher and Aimee Sinclair of Phoenix, AZ, Maureen and Frank Grainer of  Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Dorena and Robert Nieheuser of Grafton, WI, Michael Surinak of Eugene, OR, and Dr. Jonathan and Marjorie Jung of Fort Walton Beach, FL; great-grandchildren Paige Grainer (Justin Bennett) and Alex Grainer of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Natalie Niehueser of Peachtree City, GA, Payton, Colin, Weston, Holden, Aaron, Evie and Josie Sinclair of Phoenix, AZ; and great great-grandchildren, Lola, Ruby, Willow and Hendrix Bennett of Santa Rosa Beach, FL. 

Doreen is also survived by many relatives in England. Her dear sister-in-law, Cissie Beckett of Cwmbran, Pontnewydd, Wales; nieces and nephews, Julie  Beckett Jones (Russell), Karen Beckett Carter, Susan Beckett Snelgrove and Andrew Beckett from Newport, Gwent, Wales, Stuart Beckett of Cwmbran Pontnewydd, Wales. Marilyn (Ray) Thomas of Newport, Gwent, Wales, and Lynnette (Brian) Micallif of Newport, Gwent, Wales. 

Doreen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Courtney Halverson of  Milwaukee, WI.  She met her husband during World War II while he was in the Army/Air-force stationed outside of Bouremouth, England. They were married in a civil ceremony in Newport, Wales as well as having a ceremony that was performed by Pastor RE Kile (Uncle) in Milwaukee, WI for the family in the United States. 

Doreen was an avid reader and especially loved reading her Bible. She enjoyed watching classic movies, including murder mysteries such as Alfred Hitchcock and Agatha Christie. 

There will be a graveside service with family members at the Gulf Cemetery Friday, January 7, 2022 in Santa Rosa Beach, FL beginning at 1p.m.
