Donald J. Clauss, age 92, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away of natural causes Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Chautauqua Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Crouch Township near McLeansboro, Illinois February 13, 1929, the son of Michael and Anna Marie Burway Clauss. He served in the United States Marine Corps, and later had a successful career with Nicor Gas Company. Don married his wife, Lola, in 1954 and they settled in Oswego, Illinois, where they lived until 1989 when they picked up roots and retired to DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Don volunteered a great deal of his spare time to community organizations, including Bristol Little League and A-Team baseball coach, and BSA Bristol Troop 34 Scoutmaster. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying the comradery with family and friends while hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a lifetime member of the Lucky 50 Club in Aurora, Illinois. He also enjoyed gardening and cooking for any social event. Even if you were the only one at his table, there would be enough food to feed an army.
Don is preceded in death by his wife, Lola Glantz Clauss in 2017; brothers, Ray and Bud; and sisters, Lorene, Cam and Jean.
He is survived by one son, Jay Clauss and wife Renee; one granddaughter, Page Clauss; four sisters, Thelma, Nadine, Sis, and Freida; along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Internment will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich, Illinois.
