Deosia Everett Obituary

God granted Deosia (McTootle) Everett safe passage from the troubles of this world on May 8, 2021 at the age of 82. She was born on April 24, 1939, in Scotland Neck, North Carolina to the late General and Laura (Hall) McTootle. The family moved to New York in the mid 1940's where Deosia received her early education in the public-school system. After high school, she attended the famous Freedmen's Hospital School of Nursing in Washington, DC from 1960 to 1963. After graduating in 1963, she went on to pursue additional certification as a nurse anesthetist. Deosia continued in this profession, working in New York City until her retirement.

Deosia met David Everett in 1965. They became devoted friends and were united in holy matrimony on January 15, 1988.  In 1997, she relocated to David's birth home, DeFuniak Springs, Florida and joined Mt. Nebo Baptist Church where she continued her spiritual commitment and growth. She was devoted to family, loved Jazz, had a very generous spirit and always tried to uplift others. She was especially dedicated to encouraging others to obtain higher education.

Deosia was preceded in death by her dear husband, loving parents, a sister Samuella McTootle-Whaley, and two brothers, Gerald and George McTootle. She leaves to cherish her memory, a special niece, Joy McTootle of New York; a dear cousin and caregiver, Angela (Wayne) Graham of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; her Goddaughter, Evelyn (Isaiah) Brown of Maryland, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021 beginning at 10 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery, 222 North Park Street, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433.
