Debra “Debbie” Susan Lyons, 64, went home to be with our Lord and Savior while surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 29, 2023, in Crestview, Florida.
Debra was born in Peru, Indiana, on August 27, 1959, to Lillie and Glen Wade and her brothers and sisters. She moved to Fort Walton Beach, Florida when she was nine years old with her mother, Lillie, and her father, Murray Denney, and her brothers and sister. There, she would attend Pryor Junior High School and graduate from Choctaw High School in 1977. Debra had two beautiful children: Jennifer Neel and Jamison Neel. She moved to Tennessee, where she met and married the love of her life, Wayne Lyons, on October 2, 1999.
Debra was full of life and love for the Lord; her church, Mary Esther Church of God; her family; and others. It was important to Debra that all lives be honored and remembered; with this passion, she created the Fallen Indians of Choctawhatchee High School. Debra was always extremely creative and enjoyed crafts. She crafted Halloween costumes, wedding dresses and decorations for family events, jewelry, and, most recently, sun catchers.
Debra and Wayne moved back to Crestview in 2015. Their love for the beach brought them to the panhandle. They enjoyed weekly walks on the beach as they talked about life and soaked in God’s creation. Debra loved photography and used it to document her life and remember the special moments she could experience. If you knew her, it was certain you knew her love for her cat Heidi and had seen a picture of her. Debra deeply valued and loved her family. She took pride in being a wife, daughter, mother, sister, cousin, aunt, and grandmother, and it kept her busy but also brought her so much joy.
Debra is preceded by her father, Glen Wade; her mother, Lillie Denney; and her brothers, Gary Ingall and Kyle Wade.
She is survived by her father, Murray Denney, her husband Wayne Lyons, her children, Jennifer Neel (Alan Tellez), Jamison Neel (Destiny Neel), and Joey Lyons (Sholanda Lyons); her seven grandchildren, Landon and Logan Neel (Jennifer), Alyssa, Roselyn, Baylor, and Tilley Neel (Jamison), and Anna Lyons (Joey); her brothers and sister, Tom Wade, Kristi Burney (Paul), Jeffery Wade (Mitzi), Mark Denney (Pam), Robert Denney, and Keith Denney (Risha); and an abundance of nieces and nephews. She was a bright light in her family and friends’ lives. She will be greatly missed by all. Her love will never be forgotten
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance in honor of Debra Lyons.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Mary Esther Church of God, located at 140 Green Drive in Mary Esther, Florida, on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 12:00 p.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Watkins Crestview Memorial.
