David Williams Obituary

David Dewayne Williams, age 67, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home Tuesday, January 3, 2020.  He was born October 24, 1952 in Crestview, Florida to Robert Lee and Bessie Lavada Williams.  David served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army in the Bravo Company 1st BM (m) 31st Infantry, 2nd Infantry Division Camp of Casey, Korea in 1977.

He loved the outdoors, and was an avid hunter, skilled fisherman, and an excellent woodworking craftsman. He enjoyed riding his four-wheeler on the backroads of Dorcas and spending time down at the creek or the power line for frequent target practice.  Some of his fondest memories were spent on hot summer days taking his truck, “Ole’ Red”, to the pond behind his home to swim and fish or sitting in his old yellow school bus for an occasional deer sighting. David worked as a master-level mechanic for over 40 years, but was forced to retire due to health issues.  He spent his free time watching some of his favorite shows: Alaskan Bush People, Gold Rush, Guardians of the Glades, Gunsmoke, and Moonshiners.

David was Baptist by faith and his favorite Bible verse was Proverbs 3: 5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.”

David is survived by his ex-wife, Carolyn Garcia; two daughters, Julie Simpkins and husband Brian of Crestview, FL and Lisa Wright and husband Travis of DeFuniak Springs, FL; brothers, Donnie Williams and wife Ronnie of Crestview, FL and Bobby Williams and wife Linda of Crestview, FL; one sister, Joyce Bolton and husband Leon of Milton, FL; five grandchildren, Sydney Dewayne Williams, Dominique Tye Foreman and wife Samantha Selverio, Christian Renee’ Wright and husband Nicholas Meredith, Ethan Nathaniel Wright, and Emmanuel David O’Neal Wright all of DeFuniak Springs, FL; eight great-grandchildren, Michael Austin Howard Selverio, Dominique Tye Foreman Jr, Mason Cole Foreman, Jaxon David Foreman, Aleah Williams, Kaleb Dewayne Williams, Kamren Scott Williams, and Brantley Noah O’Neal Meredith all of DeFuniak Springs, FL; numerous of nieces and nephews; extended family; and many hunting and fishing buddies.
