David Benjamin Kitch left this life and went on to be with the Lord on May 21, 2026, at the age of 82. At his passing, he had spent over thirty years living in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. David was born on May 13, 1944, in Springfield, Missouri, to the late Rev. Paul L. Kitch and Virgie (Cockrum) Kitch. His deep faith in Jesus Christ, an excellent work ethic, and his love and dedication to his family, were the hallmarks of his life. He was very proud of his service to our country in the U.S. Marine Corp as a young man. He later coowned and operated a very respected Drywall business in the Fort Walton Beach / Destin area for over twenty years, before semi-retiring. He then went on to work at the local Walmart and ended up putting in twenty-plus years there, before his final retirement.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his devoted wife of sixty years, Dottie Jo (Phillips) Kitch, and his brother, Paul A. Kitch (Delma).
He is survived by his children, Sean Kitch (Michelle), Jacqueline Brown (Chad), and Jamie Agee; grandchildren, David Michael Kitch, Keri Kitch Bell, Brittany Roy (Cody), Denham Kitch (Mallorie), and Christopher Gassel (Kristen), and honorary grandson, Jason; as well as great grandchildren, Dawson Bell, Cohen Roy, and Griffin Roy; and his beloved dog and faithful companion, Shadow.
The family would like to thank Julie Elio for her compassion and dedication to assisting the family with David's care for the past three years, as well as Kim and Jessica at Gentiva Hospice for their wonderful care this past year. In lieu of flowers, a tribute donation may be made in his honor to: The Rock Apostolic Pentecostal Church at 1000 Walton Road, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433, or to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews at https://help.ifcj.org/donate/ 323?
The family is planning a private graveside service in Springfield, Missouri, at a later date.
