Colleen Ellen Iler was born December 6, 1967 and passed away May 17, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born at Forbes Air Force Base, Kansas to Sgt. James and Catherine Iler.
Colleen is survived by her mother and dad, Catherine and James Ritter; partner and caretaker, Tim Gates; children, Christian and Alexis Richardson and Ashley Burson; grandchildren, Zamari and Timothy Iler; sister, Denise (John) Mackin and children, David (Nancy) Stoms, Jodee (Patrick) Smiley and Madison Mackin; brothers, James (Cathy) Iler and Billy Iler (fiancée, Dee Wood); uncle, Billy Mullins; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Cheray, Stephanie, Tammy and Donna, who were with her every step of the way. Colleen graduated from Choctawhatchee high School, class of 1985.
Colleen was predeceased by her father, SMSgt James Iler; brother, Christopher Iler; grandparents, Dennis and Catherine Mullins, Otis and Opal Iler.
She was a lifelong friend, confidant and partner in a good time. She brought immense joy and infectious laughter to all who loved her. She celebrated the successes and achievements of others with genuine happiness, never jealousy or envy. Her love for her family and friends was unwavering and her presence made life brighter, louder and more meaningful for everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Davis Watkins Funeral home, 113 NE Racetrack Road, Fort Walton Beach, Florida 32547. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. with services starting at 12:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at AJ‘s on the Bayou, 200 Eglin Parkway NE, Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
