Stan as he was known, passed peacefully at home February 21, 2026 at the age of 107. Preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Virginia Taylor Proffitt, and his daughter, Kathy Newcomb. He is survived by his daughter Nancy Killgore, his son-in-laws Raymond Killgore and Allen Newcomb, four grandchildren, Paul Newcomb (Samantha), Sarah Bjorn (Brig), Callie Wiborg (Chris), Emily Bochy (Hoyt), and twelve great grandchildren. Stan was born in Hanover County, VA, a family of four boys and two girls. The son of a farmer, who went on to excel in life. Having only an 8th grade education, he went on to work his way up in life to become the plant manager for R.L. Polk, Co. (who printed city directories nation wide). Stan was a soft spoken man and a friend to all. Memorial service to be held at Fairfax Memorial Gardens, Fairfax, VA, April 17th, Visitation 12:00pm followed by services at 1:00pm.
