Charles Wayne Phillips a longtime resident to Ft. Walton Beach and Shalimar. Florida passed peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2019 surrounded by his family and friends. He was a much loved husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and neighbor. He was a kind, unassuming and multitalented man. Wayne was an active member of Shalimar Baptist Church, a retired electrician and also retired from the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary. He was always hands on and often leader in whatever his sons and grandchildren were interested and active in. He had served as a cub scout leader, chaperon, snack maker, driver and cheerleader. The man could fix just about anything. A talented woodworker, his projects are seen in many homes, businesses and his church. Friends and neighbor’s enjoyed stopping by his workshop to visit, check out his current project or bring their ideas for him to sketch, build and or modify…Fun Times!! Wayne also loved to travel throughout the United States in the motorhome, usually with a grandchild or two. He also liked gardening, home renovation and fishing. If he and his fishing buds weren’t fishing, they were busy planning the next trip, hosting a fish fry and most recently, keeping an eye on the river level.
Wayne is survived by his best friend and wife, Ann; sons, Randy(Christine) and Michael(Sherrie); grandchildren, Jason, Anna, Josh, Jennifer, Jaime and Benjamin; great grandchildren, Lily and Finley. He was preceded in death by his son, David; parents, Huston and Hazel Phillips of Andalusia, Alabama and sister, Iona Serino of Sebring, Florida.
He will be missed by so many and although it’s hard to imagine this world without him, it’s easy to imagine Heaven rejoicing because he is there!
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019, 3:00 p.m. at Shalimar Baptist Church with Reverend Chuck Poplin officiating.
