Charles Knight Obituary

Charles Evans Knight, age 72, a resident of Freeport, Florida passed away peacefully Sunday, November 8, 2020.  He was born May 13, 1948 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to James Knight and Mary Fayla Ward Hare.  As a United States Marine, he bravely served his country, earning a purple heart during his year (1967-68) in Vietnam.  He loved God, his country, the Marine Corp, his dear family, and wonderful friends. Charles was recognized as a father figure to many people. He was a big advocate for the Freeport Veterans Memorial. Also, he was a member of the Hatcher Cemetery Trustee Committee and the First Baptist Church of Freeport. He will be missed by anyone who was fortunate to have known him.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Linda; one son, Michael Knight; three sisters, Minerva Reddick, Ann Caudill, and Fayla Dunaway; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Thursday, November 12, 2020, at Hatcher Cemetery in Freeport, Florida beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Paul Davis and Brother Robert Samuels officiating.  We ask everyone to wear a mask.
