My darling, loving husband of forty-one years, Charles R. King, age 70, went today, May 19, 2020 to live with his Lord and Savior and join his loved ones who have gone on before him. “Charlie”, as he was known to family and friends, passed away at his residence in Freeport, Florida. Charlie was born February 23, 1950, in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to Geraldine and Raymond King of Freeport, Florida.
Charlie was a sea merchant for 30 years. He loved the water, so tug boating was more of a joy, than a job. He also served his country in the United States Army for seven years. Charles was a Christian man of God and he is home.
He is preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Earl King.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Kathy King; one son, Michael King of Mossy Head, Florida; one daughter, Angie Hogeboom and husband Scott of Freeport, Florida; six loving, bright, and beautiful grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Leonard King and wife Debbie of Freeport, Florida and Stephen King and wife Cookie of the Philippines; and one sister Mary Lynn and husband Stan of Borden, Indiana.
Charlie’s wishes were to be cremated and placed at Hatcher Cemetery. He did not want a service. The family will gather at a later date for a private farewell.
Since there will be no services, the family would like any donations to go to the Cancer Freeze Organization.
We love and will honor you always. God bless you and fare seas, until we meet again my love and my life, Kathy King.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home of DeFuniak Springs.
