Charles Caldwell Obituary

Charles Keith Caldwell, Sr., age 66, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024, in Crestview, Florida. He was born November 11, 1958, in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, to the late Leroy Caldwell, Sr. and Willie Belle Caldwell. Charles attended Tivoli School as a Tivolite and Walton Senior High School. He participated in numerous activities, with baseball being his favorite sport to play. After high school, Charles worked at Showell Farms for more than 20 years until the plant's closing. He then went on to work at Emerald Coast Transformers for over a decade. Charles was known for being an all-around family man, always putting his family first. Charles enjoyed watching sports, including Florida State and Dallas Cowboys football team, and Los Angeles Lakers basketball team. He also took pleasure in the simplicity of life and enjoyed playing music and spending time with family. Charles was a man of many statures, but he will always be remembered most as a man that loved and cared for his family. The memories he leaves behind will always be a guiding light to his family and friends. 

Charles is preceded in death by his father, Leroy Caldwell, Sr; his mother, Willie Belle Caldwell; his sister, Shirley Anderson; and his brother, Willie Lewis Caldwell, Sr.

Charles leaves to cherish his memories, his lovely wife, Dorothy Caldwell of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; his children, Muhammad Robinson, Kisha Hooks Brinson (Mickey), Charles Keith Caldwell, Jr., Kalea "Lady" Caldwell, and RahShawn Caldwell, all of DeFuniak Springs; one bonus daughter, Jessica Simmons of Chipley, Florida; his siblings, Leroy Caldwell, Jr. (Rose), Lisa Caldwell, Carolyn Roulhac, and Jeffrey Caldwell, all of DeFuniak Springs;  Jesse Hollingsworth (Walker) of Crestview, Florida; fifteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Annette Cherry and Bernard Smith.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Greater St. Joseph AME Church, 210 Graham Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida, beginning at 11:00a.m. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Committal services will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers are: RahShawn Caldwell, Charles Caldwell, Jr., Markell Carswell, Rajah Hooks, Caden Henderson, LaZavier Caldwell, and Muhammad Robinson. Honorary pallbearers are: Bernard Smith, Aubrey Campbell, Randell Key, and Bobby Brown.
