Carole Jean (Cookie) Gromofsky (nee Bokar), age 84, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Carole, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all those she met is now whole and free from Alzheimer’s disease. She is in the arms of her loving Savior and Mary, our Mother in heaven. Carole was a true believer in our Lord and had a special devotion to Mary. She was a devout Catholic.
Carole was born on October 21,1940 in Cleveland, Ohio to Frank and Helen Bokar. She was raised and had a loving childhood on the eastern side of Cleveland in a Slovenian neighborhood. She attended St. Lawrence school and Church in her primary age and attended high school at Our Lady of Lourdes.
Carole met her husband, the love of her life, Richard and was married on October 17, 1964. They celebrated sixty years of marriage in October. Together they raised their three children, Richard, Kristin and Michael. Mom loved to cook, and no one left her home hungry. Everyone she met became a friend and she was always ready to have fun. The grandkids remember she loved to play games, build blanket forts, ride roller coasters and bake them sweet treats. She really loved each and every one of them and had a talent for making them feel special.
She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Richard; her son, Richard, Jr. (Lisa); daughter, Kristin (Thomas); and son, Michael (Julie); as well as grandchildren, John Paul, Kate, Thomas, Lauren, Grace, Elisabeth, and Noah. She was preceded in death by her three siblings, Frank Bokar (Judy), Louis Bokar (Virginia), and Dolores Kocjancic (Richard).
A private service for the immediate family will be held in Santa Rosa Beach and a celebration of life will be held in Northern Kentucky at a later date, where Carol and Richard lived for seventeen years.
