Carla Mae Long

Carla Mae Long, born November 23, 1953, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025 at 71 years of age.

Carla was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose heart overflowed with love and generosity. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Darrell Lavespere; her father, William Ed Hattaway; and her sisters, Julie Hattaway and Sarah Margaret (Maggie) Hattaway.

She is survived by her loving husband, Raymond Long; her children, Michael Lavespere, Carrie Carl, and Danielle Collins; her cherished grandchildren, Nicole, Jocelyn, Emma, Evan, and Dandre; her great-grandchild, Khylin; her sister, Cathy Hattaway; and her brother, Ed Hattaway. Carla also leaves behind much extended family and loving friends who will miss her dearly.

Carla had a heart made of gold and gave endlessly to her family and loved ones. She loved people and life in general, always ready with a kind word or thoughtful gesture. She was a gifted crafter, always working on her latest idea—knitting, gluing, painting, or creating something from nothing. Her home was filled to the brim with crafting supplies and even more so with love. You never left her house without a little something to eat and a handmade gift from her latest project.

Her sense of humor was unforgettable. You were never quite sure if she was joking until she flashed that sly smile, and by then, she had you laughing. Her warmth lit up every room she entered.

Carla’s kindness and giving heart were a gift to everyone who knew her. She deeply loved her family, her friends, and life itself. Her memory will live on in every laugh shared, every handmade treasure kept, and every act of love passed on in her spirit.
