Bonnie Joy Coon

Bonnie Joy Coon passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 23, 2026, two days prior to her seventy-fourth birthday. She had worked as a registered nurse in numerous hospitals but retired after thirty-three years with the Chautauqua Nursing Center in DeFuniak Springs. For six years, following her workday, she taught nursing evening classes at Emerald Coast Technical College. Bonnie enjoyed crocheting and was a supporter of the University of Florida  Gators. Bonnie’s middle name truly described her, “Joy.” She was most definitely a people person and her family and friends agree, “she was so much fun to be with.”

She is preceded in death by her mother who raised her, Bonnie P. Amason and her biological mother, Margaret P. Wilkerson; father, Charles Clary, Sr.; three brothers, Eddie Vernon Amason, Charles Clary, Jr., and Dennis Clary.

Bonnie is survived by two sons who were her world, David and Stephen Coon (Cassie Hare); two brothers, Scotty and Greg Clary; one sister, Lisa Jones; two granddaughters, Kellie Robinson and Mckinzie Adams; one grandson, Jacob Adams; and so many friends.

A celebration of Bonnie's life will be held Friday, January 30, 2026 in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 State Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433, beginning at 3 p.m.  A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the charity of your choosing.
